Celebrating Women-Owned Businesses In Lemont
Dawn & Paige of 1 Happy Girl
Women can do anything. They wear many hats, roles, and titles throughout the day: mothers, caregivers, friends, sisters, partners, and hold any job that their hearts desire. In our village, our favorite title for women is CEO.
There is something special when you stumble open a shop or glide your hands across a product proudly displaying the ‘Woman-Owned Business’ logo. Women have overcome so many odds and pioneered new frontiers, and we hold the dreams of our mothers, grandmothers, and their grandmothers. It takes courage to open a new business venture: along with funding and lots of support.
In Lemont Downtown, we have more than 30 businesses that are woman-owned, founded, and operated in our Village. Lemont Downtown is not only a mecca for small businesses but a pioneer in female entrepreneurship.
Kiss My Aster book, written by Aster Gardens owner Amanda Thomsen
“We owe so much of Lemont’s success to the women who bring their work and their entrepreneurial spirit to Lemont Downtown. Their innovation, enthusiasm, and entrepreneurial spirit are a key component to our success as the Village of Lemont and Lemont Downtown.” - Jason Berry, Economic Development Director, Village of Lemont.
According to new research from the McKinsey Global Institute, if women were able to participate in the economy identically to men, they could add as much as $28 trillion or 26% to the annual GDP by 2025. This is equivalent to the economies of the United States and China.
We have a long way to go to reach full gender parity but we are so proud to honor, celebrate, and patron all of the fantastic woman-owned businesses in Lemont Downtown. If you’re looking for a woman-owned business to support, let us introduce you to the growing list that calls Lemont home:
