Lemont is Unlocked: Sunday, October 8th

Lemont holds the key to the rich history of Chicago, Cook County, and the entire Midwest. You can find our limestone in the iconic buildings of Chicagoland and come home to find that same limestone in the blocks of our churches.

Lemont Unlocked returns for its second year, offering self-guided, behind-the-scenes tours of Lemont’s unique architectural and historic sites.

As we continue to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Village of Lemont, the popular exploration of Lemont Downtown’s architecture, folklore, and culture returns on Sunday, October 8 from 2-5 PM in partnership with South Cooke Explore. This popular day allows residents and visitors to enjoy open house tours of Lemont with rare access to buildings in downtown Lemont and elsewhere.

During the inaugural event in 2022, participants enjoyed sites like the old Jail Cells at Village Hall and Tydens & Dyetrup, Blesch & Welter Building, with a history that dates back to the Illinois & Michigan Canal days.

This year, sites have expanded to include the old limestone Village Waterworks building, the award-winning Pollyanna Brewing Company, The Inn at Smokey Row, the Old Stone Church and Lemont Area Historical Society and Museum, Hennebry Hall, and the Slovenian Catholic Mission.
