Founded by the Jemsek family, Cog Hill opened over Fourth of July weekend in 1927. Just two years later, growing popularity led the family to purchase an additional 160 acres, laying the foundation for the golf destination visitors know today. Nearly a century later, Cog Hill remains family-owned, with the next generation of the Jemsek family continuing the tradition of welcoming golfers to one of America's premier public golf facilities.

If you've heard of one course at Cog Hill, it's probably Dubsdread. The Cog Hill experience extends well beyond the fairways. Across the property, you'll find multiple golf shops, practice facilities, restaurants, banquet spaces, and one of the Midwest's premier golf learning centers.
Golfers playing Courses 2 and 4 check in at the 2/4 Clubhouse, home to Cog Hill's largest pro shop and the best place to pick up Cog Hill apparel and souvenirs. It's also home to a café, where golfers fuel up before or after their round with favorites like the Cog Dog, a signature hot dog made exclusively for Cog Hill. An outdoor patio offers a relaxing place to enjoy a drink after your round.
Courses 1 and 3 have their own convenient golf shop for those beginning their round. Created exclusively for the course by Chicago's Makowski Real Sausage Company, the Cog Dog traces its roots to owner Frank Jemsek's quest to recreate a favorite hot dog from years past. Today, it's become a tradition of its own, served with Cog Hill's signature red relish (skip the ketchup!) and once recognized by Golf Digest as the nation's Best Traditional Golf Course Hot Dog.
You'll find the Cog Dog at the 2/4 Clubhouse Café and the on-course halfway house. Pair it with one of Cog Hill's collaboration beers from Pollyanna Brewing Company, and you've got a meal that's every bit as memorable as the golf.
One of the most popular destinations on the property is the Cog Hill Learning Center.
Open year-round, the Learning Center features heated hitting bays equipped with Toptracer technology, allowing golfers to practice, play virtual courses, compete in interactive games, and track detailed shot data throughout the winter. The facility also includes natural grass tees in season, a putting green, short-game practice areas, and professional instruction.
